Description

In Conversation With…Visiting Topics in EDI in Research & Innovation is a series of discussions with experts at University of Toronto on how to embed best practices and strategic EDI approaches within the research and innovation ecosystem. Each session will be hosted by Dr. Nicole Kaniki, the inaugural Director of EDI in Research and Innovation, and she will be joined by guests from across the tri-campus for these conversations.

Session 7: Gender and Sexuality Considerations in Research

Understanding gender diversity and the lived experiences of individuals who self-identify as LGBTQ2S+ is imperative to creating an inclusive research environment. Research and innovation practices have historically excluded considerations of non-binary and gender non-conforming ways of being as part of their research development, implementation, and knowledge mobilization practices.

In this session Dr. Kaniki will discuss with experts in the field the ways in which the research community can ensure that the research environment and processes are inclusive of LGBTQ2S+ identities and lived experiences.

Attendees are invited to join the conversation by sharing your ideas, candid questions, expertise, successes and strategies!
