Teaching in Arts & Science: Using MarkUs for Computing and Data Science Assessments

Friday, Dec 12, 10:00am - 11:00am, EST, online via Zoom

Facilitators:

David Liu, Associate Professor, Teaching Stream and Associate Chair, Undergraduate,  Department of Computer Science

Donny Wong, Teaching Applications Technical Lead, Department of Computer Science

Description:

MarkUs is an web application developed by the Department of Computer Science to support the online grading of coding and written assessments at scale. It is integrated with Quercus and currently supports both TA grading and autograding of computer code, and is available to all A&S courses. In this workshop, Professor David Liu and Donny Wong from the Department of Computer Science will introduce the MarkUs platform, walking through common workflows for instructors and students, including: enabling MarkUs through a Quercus course, setting up an assignment, submitting assignments as a student, grading submissions (as a TA/instructor), and basic autograding of code submissions. This workshop will draw examples from a wide variety of disciplines using MarkUs, including computer science, statistics, and chemistry. We hope you attend to learn about how you can use MarkUs in your classroom!
