Teaching in Arts & Science: A Practical Python Primer for Humanities and Social Science Instructors

While Python is often associated with technical fields such as computer science, it is also a valuable tool for students in the humanities and social sciences. 

Using practical examples from their own teaching, Professor Adam Hammond (Department of English) and Professor Alex Ramiller (Department of Geography & Planning) will share how the Python programming language can be integrated into undergraduate coursework in the humanities and social sciences. 

This workshop will work to demystify what Python is and provide an overview of the technical and pedagogical supports offered by the Faculty of Arts & Science’s Computation and Data Science Education Initiative.

While this workshop is geared towards instructors within the humanities and social sciences, all instructors curious about how they could integrate Python into their coursework are encouraged to attend.
