- Date/Time

- Description
Instructors teaching in Arts & Science are invited to an upcoming Lunch & Learn exploring how backward design, skill mapping, and scaffolding can support intentional, outcome-informed, and process-oriented course design.
The session will demonstrate practical examples of aligning course learning outcomes with assessments and activities, mapping the skills students build across a course, and scaffolding support for individual tasks. These three ideas work at different grain sizes of course design, and instructors can adopt one, two, or all three depending on their goals, rather than treating them as an all-or-nothing package. Furthermore, these three concepts can be adopted at different stages of course design, and instructors do not need to overhaul entire courses to utilize the strategies discussed in this session; they can start by implementing suitable ideas into a single class or activity.
